About the Book

She Beeps, and That’s OK!- Living Bravely with Type 1 Diabetes-A story for Kids Who Beep,

A rhyming children’s story about Dana, a seven year old girl learning that living with Type 1 Diabetes- and earing medical devices that sometimes beep- doesn’t have to stop her from enjoying school, friendships and everyday adventures. It is a heartfelt children’s picture book created to help kids understand diabetes technology in a simple, reassuring, and empowering way. Inspired by my 24-year journey with Type 1 Diabetes, this story introduces young readers to CGMs, insulin pods, alarms, and the everyday courage that comes with living bravely.

The book helps:

• children with T1D feel seen and celebrated,

• classmates understand the devices that “beeping does not mean broken,”

• teachers support students confidently, and

• families explain diabetes in kid-friendly language.

Author’s Note

I wrote this book to give children and families the story I wish I had when I was first diagnosed. Every child deserves to feel brave, included, and understood — especially when their body beeps, alarms, or needs extra care in the classroom.

This book is part of my larger mission to empower communities through awareness, education, and confidence — the same mission that inspired RIBBNZ.
