Why We Created a Juneteenth Collection: Community, Culture, and Pride
Some shirts make people look twice in the best way.
"Some People Like the 4th of July. I’m More of a Juneteenth Person" is one of those designs. It creates curiosity. It starts conversations. And for a lot of people, it says something deeply personal. It is not anti-July 4th. It is about ancestral connection. It is about family history, cultural identity, and the moment freedom finally reached your ancestors.
That is what we wanted this collection to do. Not just look good, but help people wear meaning, pride, and community in a way that feels honest.
Why This Shirt Resonates
"Some People Like the 4th of July. I’m More of a Juneteenth Person" lands with people because it says something honest.
For many Americans, July 4, 1776 marks the nation's independence. But for the ancestors of Black Americans, that freedom was not yet their reality. On June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, enslaved people finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed.
For many families, Juneteenth represents the moment freedom finally caught up to the promise.
That is why this shirt feels personal. It is not just about a holiday. It is about family history. It is about remembering a moment that still echoes through families and communities today. Juneteenth remains a time to honor that history through celebration, culture, family gatherings, and support for Black-owned businesses and local communities.
Wearing the Story: The Juneteenth Collection
As a Black-owned, female-owned small business, creating a Juneteenth collection felt like a natural extension of our mission. We wanted to create apparel that celebrates freedom, honors history, and gives people a meaningful way to show up at festivals, family gatherings, and community events.
The Legacy Leader Tee featuring Shirley Chisholm and Kamala Harris speaks to what happens when one generation opens the door and the next walks through it. That is the story of progress. That is the story of leadership. That is the story of Black excellence continuing forward.
The Obama/Jesse design carries that same message. It honors the connection between those who challenged barriers and those who were able to move through them because the door had already been pushed open. Together, these designs show legacy in motion.
